Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Ammar Idris is a young Malaysian interdisciplinary artist, curator, and poet who explores alternative ways of thinking and making art. His artistic works can be identified through two different sets of objectives. One, by opening up the possibilities of creating art with the help of active public engagement in forms of art such as installation, performance, and other diverse formats. In this body of work, Ammar uses easier themes and subjects, such as collective memories and a sense of locality, combined with his experiential learning, personal life, and past memories, thereby creating connections between his existence and society.

Other parts of his works are more personal and translate into the use of Malay poems called Sajak and raw yet conceptualised visual works, investigating his own identity and emotions. His works are heavily influenced by existentialism's philosophy. This approach helped him understand the concept of humans and their life journeys and purposes. Hence, his works become a by-product of his existence in the form of arts that are predominantly blue in colour and that reflect his emotions and thoughts.
